Jon Jones shares a video of him hitting pads ahead of heavyweight debut

Former UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones appears to be inching closer to making a big impact at heavyweight.

Jones on Thursday posted a video of a recent pad session with longtime coach Brandon Gibson.

Jones, 35, hasn’t stepped foot inside the Octagon for more than two years, since his controversial unanimous decision victory against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 in Feb. 2020. Shortly following his win over Dominick Reyes, “Bones” vacated his title, making his intentions clear to moving up to heavyweight.

However, ‘Bones’ had been bulking up and now took to Instagram to release a video of him training with longtime coach Brandon Gibson.

“Right now I’m exactly where I need to be, I’m excited to see myself in a few months when things actually start to ramp up,” Jones wrote. “Feeling sharp across the board.” Jones wrote on Instagram.

As of right now, Jones expected to take on ex-champ Stipe Miocic in his heavyweight debut. UFC President Dana White recently shared that Jones is “ready to go”, also said that is the fight he wants to make.
