Canelo Alvarez secured a unanimous decision victory over Jaime Munguia on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The world championship bout delivered excitement throughout its entirety. In the fourth round, Canelo landed a powerful right uppercut, causing Munguia to hit the canvas for the first time in his career. After 12 intense rounds, the judges scored the fight 117-110, 116-111, and 115-112 in favor of Canelo.

Alvarez, boasting a record of 60-2-2 with 39 knockouts, has a remarkable 9-1 record on this particular weekend. His sole loss during this time was against Dmitry Bivol on May 7, 2022, when he challenged for the WBA light heavyweight title. This fight marks Alvarez’s fourth defense of his undisputed super middleweight championship. Notably, he holds the record for the most successful undisputed title defenses in the four-belt era, having triumphed over Gennadiy Golovkin, John Ryder, and Jermell Charlo.

Meanwhile, Munguia, aged 27 with a perfect record of 43-0 and 34 knockouts, has been in impressive form. He has clinched victory in eight of his last ten fights by stoppage, including a ninth-round TKO over John Ryder in January.
