Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs), will look to defend his four-pack of titles in highly anticipated trilogy bout against the hard-hitting Kazakh Gennadiy Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs), after a controversial victory by the Mexican in their most recent fight in on Sept. 15, 2018.
Alvarez, the undisputed super middleweight champion only fought at middleweight once more after his 2018 rematch with Golovkin, who still holds a pair of world titles at 160 pounds. Now, they move up to super-middleweight, meaning they will both be coming with more power as they look to land a decisive finish, Golovkin declared, “This is not just for me, [it’s] for sport. I want to bring boxing’s position back, I want a clean sport.”
Canelo did lose in May to Dmitry Bivol when attempting to claim the WBA light heavyweight title but now he puts his WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO titles up for grabs.
