Video: Khamzat Chimaev Shares Post UFC 273 Footage, ‘I feel sorry for my coaches’
Chimaev shared some behind the scenes footage following his UFC 273 epic clash with Gilbert Burns.
Undefeated welterweight sensation Khamzat Chimaev (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) captured a close decision victory over Gilbert Burns (20-5 MMA, 13-5 UFC) at the UFC 273. However, it wasn’t easy as Chimaev was pushed to the limit, faced plenty of adversity and went the full three rounds for the first time in his UFC career.
On Monday, “Borz” shared a behind the scenes video before and after his win over Burns at UFC 273, the footage shows the disappointment of his coaches for not following the game plan, weight cut, fight night experience, his thoughts directly after the fight and much more.
“I feel sorry for my coaches,” a bloodied Chimaev said post-fight from the locker room of Jacksonville’s VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. “They work hard with me. I made many mistakes, Go back and watch my fight, like I always do. I will work hard, more energy. I need to be, everywhere, black belt — striking, ground-and-pound, wrestling, grappling, whatever, everything. I will fix everything now. One way I’m happy and one way I’m mad.
“I’m mad because I couldn’t finish the guy.”
One of Chimaev’s coaches responded soon after.
“Experience,” the coach said. “You have to beat them with being smart, with a strategy.”
