UFC Nashville: Derrick Lewis TKO’s Tallison Teixeira

UFC Nashville takes place tonight at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The main event features former heavyweight title challenger Derrick Lewis against the surging Tallison Teixeira, while the co-main event pits Stephen Thompson against Gabriel Bonfim in a welterweight clash.

Derrick Lewis, 40, proved he’s still a force in the heavyweight division Saturday by defeating rising prospect Tallison Teixeira by TKO in the first round at UFC Nashville.

The fight began with both heavyweights exchanging powerful blows. A jab from the 6-foot-7 Teixeira momentarily stunned Lewis, who appeared to suffer an eye poke. Despite this, Lewis quickly displayed his signature finishing power, landing a left hook that dropped Teixeira. Lewis continued with ground strikes until referee Jason Herzog stopped the fight as Teixeira was getting up

Lewis hadn’t fought in 14 months before Saturday’s bout. He was aiming for consecutive wins after his TKO victory over Rodrigo Nascimento in May 2024.

Meanwhile, Teixeira entered the octagon undefeated at 8-0, with seven knockouts. He’d made his UFC debut in February, knocking out Justin Tafa in just 35 seconds, following his appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series.
