UFC 311: Islam Makhachev submits Renato Moicano in the first round

Islam Makhachev showcased his dominance, retaining his lightweight title with a first-round submission victory against Renato Moicano in the main event of UFC 311.

Makhachev weathered an early storm, recovering from a knockdown to secure a dominant position. He swiftly locked in a D’Arce choke, forcing Moicano to tap out at 4:05 of the first round.

Makhachev was originally scheduled to defend his title against Arman Tsarukyan, but Tsarukyan’s injury led to Moicano stepping in on short notice. Moicano was initially slated to fight Beneil Dariush on the same card.

This fight marks Moicano’s first opportunity to compete for the UFC lightweight championship, coming off a four-fight winning streak.
