UFC 306: Diego Lopes beats Brian Ortega
Brian Ortega and Diego Lopes collided in a three-round featherweight bout on the main card of UFC 306: Riyadh Season Noche UFC, taking place Saturday at The Sphere in Las Vegas.
Ortega, 33, has been inactive since his unsuccessful featherweight title bid, compiling a 2-3 record in the past six years. He recently rebounded with a spectacular submission victory over Yair Rodriguez at UFC 289 in February, earning a “Performance of the Night” bonus. Originally scheduled to face Lopes in June at UFC 303, Ortega was forced to withdraw due to complications during his weight cut.
Meanwhile, Lopes, 29, has quickly gained recognition since joining the UFC last year. He is currently riding a four-fight winning streak, including a decisive victory over Dan Ige, who stepped in to replace Ortega at UFC 303 on short notice.
Official result: Diego Lopes def. Brian Ortega via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27 x2)
