UFC 305: Dricus Du Plessis submits Israel Adesanya

Dricus du Plessis shocked the world by submitting Israel Adesanya in the fourth round to retain the UFC middleweight title at UFC 305 in Perth.

Israel Adesanya was supposed to defend his middleweight championship against Dricus du Plessis at UFC 293. However, Du Plessis was unable to fully recover from his previous title eliminator victory over Robert Whittaker and was subsequently removed from the card. This opened an opportunity for Sean Strickland to challenge for the championship. Adesanya’s reign ended with a surprise loss to Sean Strickland, who in turn lost it to Dricus,  setting the stage for this highly anticipated rematch.
