Jorge Masvidal vs. Leon Edwards is off, leaving Khamzat Chimaev offering to step up.
Masvidal and Edwards were supposed to have their grudge match on Dec. 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas at UFC 269, but unfortunately UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell has now confirmed that Masvidal has pulled out due to an undisclosed injury during his training camp.
Leon Edwards (19-3) wasted no time taking a shot at “Gamebred” expressed his lack of surprise.
“Disappointed but honestly I knew this fraud didn’t want to fight me anyway. He was just a stop off on the way to the title. The goal remains the same. Much needed family time now, @usman84kg i will see you soon,” Edwards tweeted.
It was unclear what the plan was as far as a replacement fighter. However, it did not take long for Chimaev to call for the opportunity to step in.
“Let’s go bro we do it @LeonEdwardsMMA,” Chimaev wrote on social media.
The “Wolf ” wants everybody!
It would certainly be insane to see rising star Khamzat Chimaev get the fight against Leon Edwards, but Based on the tweet, it seems like Edwards focused on a title shot next and will not be taking a short-notice replacement to fight “Borz” next.
