Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev tip the bill with the vacant light heavyweight title on the line. The card was originally set to be headlined by reigning light heavyweight champion Jiří Procházka taking on Glover Teixeira in a much-anticipated rematch, but Procházka vacated the title last month because of a serious shoulder injury that will sideline him for more than a year.
Blachowicz (29-9) looks to become golden again. He captured six of his last seven and rebounded from his championship loss to Glover Teixeira by outlasting Aleksandr Rakic with a 3rd-round KO/TKO win in May.
Ankalaev (17-1) is the winner of nine straight with five nasty finishes, including last summer’s technical knockout victory over veteran bruiser Anthony Smith. Ankalaev’s game is highly efficient. The Russian fighter is a controlled explosion, boasting crisp footwork and stand-up skills.
