Edson Barboza wants to be released from UFC — ‘It’s time to move on’

Considered one of the most dangerous fighter in the UFC lightweight division, Barboza appears ready to leave the promotion altogether.

“I’m very thankful for these almost 10 years that I have been working for the company,” the striking sensation wrote on Twitter. “I gave my best every single fight to put on a show for the fans, but I think it’s time to move on. I don’t have more time to wait. Please let me go.”

Barboza debuted at the UFC in November 2010, when he defeated Mike Lullo by knockout at UFC 123. Barboza (20-8) was for a long time in the elite of the lightweight division, which today is dominated by Khabib Nurmagomedov .

The current phase of the fighter is not the best. Four defeats in the last five presentations. The athlete even confirmed the migration to the featherweight division to try to find the good moment in his career.

It is not yet known what Barboza’s plans are for the future. The fighter gave no clues as to what he intends to do or where he intends to act.
