Michael Chandler is trying to line up a matchup with the biggest star in the sport.
Just two days after gruelling UFC 268 loss to Justin Gaethje last Saturday (Nov. 6, 2021) with one of the most entertaining fights of the year, UFC lightweight contender Michael Chandler (1-2 UFC) is eyeing another high-profile showdown for his comeback fight in 2022.
On Twitter the former Bellator MMA Lightweight champion posted a photo mock-up showing him facing off with former champion Conor McGregor as his next potential opponent.
McGregor saw the callout and he responded quickly, The Irishman has agreed to a fight with Michael Chandler while praising him for his recent thriller with Justin Gaethje at UFC 268.
“I’m down at some stage for sure. Great fight the other night Mike, congrats!” McGregor replied.
McGregor ranked No. 9 at 155 pounds, has been out of action since july after breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Now, The Irish superstar is currently on the right path to recovery from injury so he could be ready to mount a comeback in the first half of 2022.
