AEW video: CM Punk wins first pro wrestling title in more than nine years

Nearly a decade after his last title reign, Punk outlasted ‘Hangman’ Adam Page to become a world champion.

In the main event of AEW Double or Nothing on Sunday night, CM Punk defeated “Hangman” Adam Page to win the All Elite Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Page may have been able to pick up the win, With the referee down he hesitated to use the championship belt as a shortcut that cost him allowing Punk to counter a Buckshot Lariat into the “Go 2 Sleep” finishing move to leave Double Or Nothing as the fifth AEW World Champion.

It was Punk’s first title victory in over a decade. His last title victory took place in November of 2011, prior to this was when The Rock ended his 434-day reign as WWE Champion in January 2013.
