Alex Pereira knocks out Magomed Ankalaev, earn shocking revenge at UFC 320

In shocking fashion at UFC 320, Alex Pereira regained his light heavyweight title, stopping Magomed Ankalaev in the very first round.

Alex Pereira wasted no time, scoring a TKO just over one minute into the first round. Pereira aggressively backed Magomed Ankalaev to the fence, stunned him with a right hook, and then denied a desperate takedown attempt. Pereira immediately followed up with ground-and-pound, forcing the referee to stop the fight and giving “Poatan” his light-heavyweight title back.

Champion Magomed Ankalaev faced top-contender Alex Pereira for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship in a rematch, following his unanimous decision victory over Pereira at UFC 313 in March. Ankalaev is currently on a three-fight winning streak.

After moving up to light heavyweight (205 lbs), Alex Pereira (12−3) won his debut against Jan Blachowicz, then knocked out Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295 to claim the vacant Light Heavyweight Championship. He successfully defended the title three times in one year, including wins over Jamahal Hill, Prochazka (twice), and Khalil Rountree Jr., before losing the belt to Magomed Ankalaev via decision at UFC 313.
