UFC 317: Alexandre Pantoja submits Kai Kara-France
Alexandre Pantoja successfully defended his UFC flyweight championship, submitting Kai Kara-France with a rear-naked choke in the UFC 317 co-main event on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Alexandre Pantoja The 35-year-old, who captured the belt from Brandon Moreno at UFC 290, has already amassed three successful defenses. His last title defense at UFC 310 saw him secure a second-round submission win against Kai Asakura.
Kai Kara-France is getting another opportunity to fight for a title. His last attempt was at UFC 277, where he suffered a third-round TKO loss to Brandon Moreno. That was followed by a close split-decision defeat to Amir Albazi in a June 2023 Fight Night headliner. A concussion sustained in training then kept him out of action, but he made a strong return at UFC 305 with a first-round win against Steve Erceg, earning him this second crack at the belt.
